So, Kirsty had a bit of a moment at a roundabout and gave Andy’s Hyundai i20 a little nudge you know, the kind where bumpers go crunch and insurance companies start rubbing their hands together.

Kirsty, being a sensible soul, came to see us. We had a look and said:

“Right, you’ve got two options:

1️⃣ Pay for it yourself

2️⃣ Or claim on insurance (and prepare to enter the mysterious world of call centres and hold music)”

We also dropped the bombshell that she could choose her own repairer.

Yes, really. Your insurer doesn’t own you.

Shocking, we know.

So we told her,

“Look, we’ll do everything the insurer’s ‘approved’ repairer can do:

✅ Guaranteed repairs

✅ Hyundai approved

✅ Actual human beings fixing your car — locally!

PLUS we’ll save you £150 off your excess.

Because we’re nice like that.”

Kirsty said, “Deal.”

Seven days later — job done. No drama, no vanishing cars, no mysterious delays.

Meanwhile… enter Andy.

We offered to help him too, explaining how we could handle everything without the claim touching his policy (since, you know, he was the one hit).

But Andy, bless him, decided to call his own insurer.

Because, obviously, they always have your best interests at heart… right? 🙄

So here’s what happened:

📞 Andy’s claim went through his own policy

🚚 His Hyundai disappeared off to a mystery garage 30 miles away

🗓 Four weeks later — it returned (cue the dramatic music)

Except now…

😐 The bumper didn’t fit right

😑 The interior trim was hanging off

🧼 Fingerprints all over the place — like a crime scene, but with added WD-40

Andy rang them up: “This isn’t right.”

They said: “Bring it back.”

Slight problem:

Andy works full time.

The bodyshop doesn’t open weekends.

So now he’s got to take a half-day off to drop it off, and another half day to collect it.

All because he didn’t #RepairLocal.
